Hamas leader in Gaza Strip says war ‘fierce, violent and unprecedented’

The leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, stated this Monday, in his First public message since the start of the war.that it is a “ferocious, violent and unprecedented battle” against Israel.

“The Al Qasam Brigades will destroy the occupation army, they are on the way to crushing it and will not submit to the conditions of occupation,” Sinwar said in a message broadcast on Hamas channels.

Sinwar, who Israel is believed to be hiding in the enclave’s network of underground tunnels, said that Israeli troops “They are suffering great losses in lives and equipment”.

The Al Qasam Brigades, he claimed, attacked some 5,000 Israeli soldiers, “a third of whom were killed, a third seriously wounded and the last third permanently disabled”, having also destroyed 750 military vehicles.

Sinwar’s figures are very different from the Israeli army’s official casualty count, which confirmed 156 soldiers killed since the start of the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip on October 27, plus 333 during the Hamas attack on Israeli soil on October 7 and in the fighting in the following days.

This is the first message from the Islamist leader since the start of the war, after the attack on October 7, of which he is considered the main intellectual author, and which left more than 1,200 dead and 240 kidnapped.
