The European Union (EU) announced this Thursday that it mobilized medical and hygiene materials for the needy population of the Gaza Strip, on the 33rd flight of the humanitarian airlift to Egypt, with donations from Portugal and other member states.
“Today [Quinta-feira]”The 33rd humanitarian airlift flight since October 16 transported 38 tonnes of aid to Egypt, from where it will reach people in need in Gaza,” said European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, in a post on social network X (formerly Twitter).

Janez Lenarcic specified that “the materials donated by Greece, Spain, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia and UNRWA [Agência das Nações Unidas de Assistência aos Refugiados Palestinianos no Médio Oriente] include sleeping bags, hygiene kits and medical supplies, among others.
Israel declared war on Hamas after the Palestinian Islamist group launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli soil on October 7, from the Gaza Strip.
The attack caused around 1,200 deaths and Hamas commandos also took 240 hostages and took them to the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli authorities.
Since then, Israel has launched an offensive by land, air and sea against the small Palestinian coastal enclave that has caused 21,320 deaths, according to a report updated this Thursday by Hamas health structures.
