Hezbollah threatens a “major response” if the bombing of Lebanese continues

The deputy secretary general of the Lebanese Shiite party Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, threatened on Sunday with “major reaction” as Israeli army “insists on bombing Lebanese civilians” and deemed it “indispensable” to end attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to Europa Press Naim Qassem emphasized that the October 7 attacks, carried out by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), marked “the beginning of a new era,” leading to an increase in support for Hezbollah.

Qassem criticized Israel’s attempts to “return residents to the north in the middle of a conflict,” something that “will not bring any benefit.”

“Stopping the war is crucial for ending hostilities in Lebanon,” he stressed.

The official has advocated that Hezbollah respond “in proportion to Israeli aggression on the southern front,” “ignoring the threats.”

“We are ready to face the aggression, to put an end to the violations and attacks on Gaza,” Qassem assured.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raised the possibility of “restoring security in the north and encouraging the return of residents to their homes” during a meeting of the Council of Ministers.
