Angolan Constitutional Court accepts precautionary measure issued by UNITA

The Constitutional Court of Angola accepted the appeal issued by the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), in which the results of the general elections in the country that gave victory to the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola are revealed ( MPLA) are disputed. The Gallo Negro Party has already been notified of the decision.

The decision was published in an order to which the TSF had access and the assignment of mandates is suspended until the court rules on the case.

The Party led by Adalberto Costa Júnior calls for the announcement of the official results of the general elections to be canceled and for the National Electoral Commission to admit UNITA’s complaints.

From here, the judges of the Constitutional Court will have to issue an order in the coming weeks with the decision that they may or may not reject the requests made by UNITA.

In Angola, the Armed Forces were put into high combat readiness. The decision signed by the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces will be valid until September 20.

UNITA does not accept the electoral results, saying that the MPLA, a party in power for more than 45 years, did not win the elections with an absolute majority.

UNITA had a historic result, for example, in Luanda and there are several internal and external voices calling for changes in Angola.
