Russian President Vladimir Putin visited a training camp for mobilized soldiers in the Ryazan region, southeast of Moscow, on Thursday, according to footage broadcast on Russian television.
This is the first time since the announcement of the partial mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists on September 21 that the Russian leader has observed on the ground training exercises for these civilians called to support the Russian offensive in Ukraine.
Several thousand people mobilized
In a shooting range, the Russian president himself tried to fire an automatic weapon, lying on the ground, with a protective helmet over his ears, a black coat on his back, according to these images broadcast on Russian television.
Vladimir Putin also exchanged with some mobilized soldiers. “Good luck!” he yelled at one of them, tapping him on the shoulder.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, also present on this visit, also gave an update on the training of these hundreds of mobilized reservists, Russian agencies said.
According to a figure communicated by Vladimir Putin last Friday, 222,000 people have already been mobilized, of which 16,000 are already in “units involved in combat” in Ukraine.
