According to our information obtained from concordant sources, the Tournai council chamber refused to hand over Hassan Iquioussen to France. The Moroccan imam has been wanted by France since he left the territory to avoid the expulsion measure to which he was subject, taken after he made comments considered anti-Semitic and more widely contrary to the values of the Republic.
He was arrested in Belgium on September 30. He has been contesting ever since his extradition. His lawyer argued in particular that he risked “an unfair trial” in France. The opposing party can appeal the decision to the Tournai council chamber.
