Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson indicated this Sunday that he will not be a candidate to succeed Liz Truss, leaving the way to the favorite Rishi Sunak.
Johnson claims he had the support of 102 MPs, enough to qualify, but concludes that “you can’t govern effectively if you don’t have a united party in Parliament.”
In recent days, the British press has speculated about a possible return of Johnson to active politics, with Chancellor of the Exchequer Jacob Rees-Mogg telling the BBC that “it is clear that he will run”.
