Three people, including the gunman, died in a shooting at a school in St. NBC. There are also reports of several injuries.
Initially, authorities said the 20-year-old suspect in the attack was being held at the school, the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School (CVPA), but later stated the gunman was dead.
“While on paper we may have nine victims, eight who have been hospitalized and one who has remained at the scene, we have hundreds more. Anyone who survived here will take this trauma home with them.”said local police chief Mike Sack at a news conference.
The names of the victims have not been released, but a woman and a teenager are known to have died alongside the gunman.
Authorities have also not disclosed the shooter’s connection to the school or the reason for the shooting.
Police are on the scene at Central Visual and Performing Arts this morning following reports of an active gunman and both CVPA and Collegiate are on lockdown.
The shooter was quickly stopped by police within CVPA.
