Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded on Tuesday that Russian troops fighting in Ukraine have “more modern, comfortable and effective” equipment.
The Kremlin leader spoke at a meeting of the government’s Coordinating Council to ensure the needs of the Russian military.
“Not only must we guarantee the equipment used in the special military operation (the Kremlin’s designation for the invasion of Ukraine), but it must also be modern, comfortable and effective.”emphasizes.
The Russian head of state called for a reduction in bureaucratic behavior that delays the delivery of equipment to the army.
“The norms are norms, but they have to be changed or adapted quickly (…), orienting us in the real situation, in the real needs”orphan.
The warning is intended to minimize the errors discovered during the partial mobilization process.
According to the Russian press, there were, among other things, cases of delivery of rusty semi-automatic weapons, poor-quality bulletproof vests, helmets from the Second World War.
In addition, in some cases, recruitment centers asked the mobilized individuals to use their own equipment, such as sleeping bags and first aid kits.
In this regard, Putin encouraged members of the Council, led by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, to “a precise and concrete work plan” to overcome problems.
The Russian president called for an increase in the number of companies producing equipment for the military and stressed that they should receive “direct feedback” from the military on the effectiveness of the equipment.
According to the prime minister, the government has already allocated additional funds for the purchase of uniforms and other equipment.
The military offensive launched by Russia on February 24 in Ukraine has already resulted in more than 13 million people fleeing — more than six million internally displaced persons and more than 7.7 million to European countries — according to the latest data from the UN, which ranks this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).
The Russian invasion – justified by Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the generality of the international community, which has responded by sending arms to Ukraine and Russia of political and economic sanctions.
The UN presented 6,306 dead civilians and 9,602 wounded as confirmed since the start of the war, stressing that these numbers are far below the actual number.
