The United States Federal Reserve (Fed) announced this Wednesday a rise of 75 basis points in its interest rate, an increase identical to the one it had decided in the last three meetings, up to a range between 3.75% and 4%.
“The committee [FOMC] seeks to achieve full employment and inflation close to 2% in the long term. To support these goals, the Committee has decided to raise the federal funds rate to a range between 3.75% and 4%,” the US central bank announced today in a statement after the end of the two-day meeting. of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).
This is the sixth increase since March and places the range of official interest rates at its highest level since 2007.
