War in Ukraine: kyiv used underwater drones against the Russian fleet in Crimea

Volodymyr Zelensky’s army carried out an attack at the end of October against Russian buildings in the port of Sevastopol in Crimea with an “easy and effective” device, explains General Jérôme Pellistrandi to BFMTV.

For the first time, on Saturday, October 29, the Ukrainian naval forces struck a blow in the Black Sea by sending suicide maritime drones against Russian buildings in the port of Sevastopol, located on the Crimean peninsula. After the destruction of Moskva last April, the Ukrainian army continues to show its capacity for innovation and surprise to destabilize Russia.

“Ships of the Russian Black Sea fleet” “repelled” the attack, the governor of Sevastopol told reporters, adding that no facilities in the city were affected.

“All drones involved in the attack have been ‘shot down,'” he later clarified on Telegram.

“Simple Enough”

Moscow immediately blamed the attack on the UK. And he announced to submit to the UN Security Council the issue of the Sevastopol and Nord Stream attacks.

“The Russian side intends to draw the attention of the international community, including through the United Nations Security Council, to the series of terrorist attacks perpetrated against Russia in the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea, including with the ‘ Britain’s involvement,’ spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy Maria Zakharova said on Saturday (October 29) on Telegram.

“Escalation risk”

In a summons from the British ambassador in Moscow, the Russian authorities made it clear that “such hostile actions by the United Kingdom risk leading to an escalation of the situation that could have unforeseeable and dangerous consequences,” Russian diplomacy said in a statement. release.

However, Kyiv could have carried out this targeted attack on Sevastopol without outside help. “This type of project is quite simple to do. Of course, you have to go into production, but honestly, it’s relatively easy and effective,” General Jérôme Pellistrandi explains to BFMTV.

British authorities have repeatedly denied these accusations, accusing Moscow of trying to “divert attention” from its military setbacks in Ukraine.

In the statement released on Thursday, Russian diplomacy again attacked the United Kingdom, accusing “British instructors” of training Ukrainian “sabotage divers” as well as teaching the Ukrainian military how to operate underwater drones.

Relations between Moscow and London, very tense for several years, have been in open crisis since the launch of the Russian military offensive against Ukraine. London has provided strong financial and military support to Kyiv and participates in Western sanctions against Moscow.
