Volodymyr Zelensky says some 12,000 North Korean soldiers will be in Russia ‘soon’

Russia “will use them on our territory,” Volodymyr Zelensky said during a press conference during a summit in Iceland with the leaders of the Nordic countries. The Pentagon said Monday that 10,000 North Korean troops were already training on Russian soil.

Some 12,000 North Korean soldiers will “soon” be in Russia for training, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday, who hopes to see them later on the battlefield in Ukraine.

“There are already 3,000 North Korean soldiers on Russian territory. According to our intelligence services, there will soon be 12,000,” he said during a press conference on the occasion of a summit in Iceland with the leaders of the Nordic countries, once again denouncing a ” escalation” of the conflict.

According to the Ukrainian president, North Korea has already supplied Russia with “millions of artillery shells and missiles” for the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump’s election, a fear?

Asked about the risk for Ukraine of an election of Donald Trump in the next US presidential election, Volodymyr Zelensky responded that he “did not hear” the Republican candidate say that he would not support his country.

“Not supporting Ukraine would be a great victory for Putin and a great loss for the West, for unity, democracy and freedom,” he added.

Volodymyr Zelensky met with the heads of government of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden, who promised to continue supporting Ukraine.

Swedish aid to Ukraine

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson took the opportunity to announce new aid of 63 million euros to Ukraine, of which 20 million to support its defense industry.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen highlighted China’s role in supporting Russia. “I don’t think Russia would be able to wage a full-scale war in Europe for more than two and a half years without China’s help,” he said.
