For her part, Christine Zamarreno remained at Ikea. “The staff who brought out mattresses and blankets,” continues the Frenchwoman.

“We had to wait for the water to go down a little so that the men could go out with ropes to pick up the survivors. My husband was rescued by another company at 3 in the morning. “We were able to meet again this morning,” he says. the store.

The night was distressing for Christine Zamarreno, who explains that “it was really panic because the water rose to more than two meters.” “There were cars on alert, people on the roofs of stores shouting for help and, honestly, I haven’t seen any firefighters yet,” he worries. “I understood that there were catastrophic cities. So finally everything is fine in a tent. We have blankets, but soon we will run out of water.”

This Wednesday afternoon, the situation remains complex for the French woman and the customers next to her: “I think there is only one free way, there is no transportation, it is recommended not to leave the shopping center.”

Faced with this catastrophe, the Spanish government has declared three days of national mourning starting October 31. For his part, Emmanuel Macron declared that France has made “civil security” and “rescue” aid available to Spain.
