Andy Taylor, former member of Duran Duran, has cancer

Duran Duran’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday was supposed to schedule a reunion with one of its former members, Andy Taylor, but he was absent due to cancer, announced by former bandmates.

At the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, Simon Le Bon, the leader of the hit 1980s British band, read a letter from Andy Taylor explaining that he had been diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer four years ago. .

“Many families have experienced the slow progress of this disease, and of course we are no different,” wrote Andy Taylor, who said the disease “did not immediately put the [sua] life in danger” but that “there was no cure.

“Despite the exceptional efforts of my team, I had to be honest because, both physically and mentally, I would be pushing my limits” by being present, the guitarist admitted.

“However, none of this should or could distract from what this band [com ou sem mim] achieved and maintained for 44 years,” Taylor wrote.

Speaking to the press behind the scenes, Simon Le Bon described the news as “absolutely devastating”. “We love Andy very much,” the singer said. “I’m not going to stand here and cry, I think it would be inappropriate, but that’s how we feel.”

The band severed ties with Andy Taylor in 2006, citing an “unbridgeable chasm” between him and the New Wave innovators.

Former member Warren Cuccurullo, who was originally scheduled to attend, was also absent from the ceremony.
