“As a result of a terrorist attack, organized by the Ukrainian side, three concrete towers carrying high-voltage lines were damaged on the Berislav-Kakhovka axis,” they said in a statement on Telegram.
“Currently there is no light or water in the city and in some districts of the region,” they added.
First major blackout in Kherson
This is the first known power and water outage in Kherson, a city controlled by the Russian army, since the start of the offensive by Moscow troops in Ukraine.
According to a representative of the emergency services of the Kherson region, quoted by Russian news agencies, “more than 10 localities in the region are (currently) without electricity.” According to the Moscow-installed regional occupation administration, electricians have already been sent to the strike site to “repair” the infrastructure.
“Water and electricity supply will be restored throughout the Kherson region in the very near future,” they said.
