It is a true misadventure that 40 students from an elementary school near Denver, Colorado, in the central United States are experiencing. A substitute bus driver dropped off dozens of children several kilometers from their homes on Monday, November 18, 9 News reports.
The driver was fired after this incident, the exact causes of which remain to be clarified as local authorities have opened an investigation.
“This is extremely worrying”
The issue begins in the school parking lot. The driver refuses to leave as long as the children continue talking. Finally, the bus starts but the driver misses several stops. “He finally left and skipped all the kids’ stops, and when I say all the kids, I mean all the kids. When he drove and skipped our stops, we felt like we were being kidnapped,” one girl said. testified before 9 news.
The bus passengers are then dropped off at the wrong place, forcing their parents to go pick them up. Several motorists in the area volunteered to accompany the children home.
“This is extremely concerning because the safety of our students is always our priority. We will continue to collaborate with the Police Department on this matter,” the school district said.
Several parents requested a video recording from inside the vehicle, which was rejected by local authorities due to the ongoing investigation. “I was absolutely petrified when a stranger called me to tell me that I had my children in the car and they were crying and screaming, red and cold,” said the mother of one of those present on the bus to Denver 7, a media outlet local.
The fired bus driver apologized, admitted his faults and said he “wished he had done better.”
