The police speak of a “terrible incident”. An 8-year-old girl and a 34-year-old man were seriously injured in a shooting in west London this Sunday, November 24, several British media reports, including the BBC and The Guardian.
According to Scotland Yard, the shooting took place in the Ladbroke Grove area around 5:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. French time). Both victims were taken to the hospital.
On Monday morning, the little girl was stable, but it was unknown if the injured person’s life was in danger or not. A 32-year-old woman was also hospitalized, but was not injured by the gunshots.
Police appeal for witnesses
This shooting has not yet led to any arrests and the London police, who have opened an investigation, are appealing to all those who witnessed the scene.
“Did you hear gunshots around 5:30pm last night? Did you see anyone fleeing the area? We look forward to hearing from anyone who may have information about this incident,” London Police Commissioner Owen Renowden said. “Your information is important, even if you think it is insignificant.”
As the BBC recalls, a 15-year-old teenager was murdered three months ago two streets from where Sunday’s shooting took place. “I know that residents in the area will be rightly concerned for their safety following a number of recent incidents,” Joe Powell, MP for the constituency, responded in a statement.
