The leader of Lebanese Hezbollah Naïm Qassem committed this Friday, November 29, to “cooperate” with the Lebanese army, responsible for implementing the ceasefire agreement with Israel, which provides for the withdrawal of the Israeli army and its formation from southern Lebanon .
“Coordination between the resistance and the Lebanese army will be at a high level to implement the terms of the agreement,” said Naïm Qassem in a pre-recorded speech, the first since the ceasefire came into force this Wednesday. “No one should bet on problems or conflicts” with the army, he added.
A “great victory, which surpasses that of July 2006”
Beyond the implementation of the ceasefire, Naïm Qassem stated that the Islamist movement was willing to cooperate with the army in the defense of Lebanon.
“We will work to strengthen Lebanon’s defensive capabilities (…) The resistance will be ready to prevent the enemy from taking advantage of Lebanon’s weakness with our partners (…) and above all with the army,” he explained.
During his speech, the Hezbollah leader described the result of the fighting against the Jewish State as “a great victory, surpassing that of July 2006 in terms of duration, intensity of fighting, sacrifices and foreign and American efforts.” support from which the enemy benefited.”
“Benjamin Netanyahu recognized this situation by admitting that he needed this truce to save his army,” said the secretary general of the Islamist movement, supported by Iran. This Wednesday, Hezbollah proclaimed its “victory” against Israel, considering that Israeli forces had failed in their “attempts (…) to occupy and establish themselves in cities.”
At the end of his speech, Naïm Kassem spoke about the reconstruction of Lebanon. “We will continue to support our people in the reconstruction process and, at this stage, in the construction of decent homes. We want to see Lebanon even more beautiful than before.” Nearly 100,000 homes need to be rebuilt for an estimated amount of 2.6 billion euros, according to the World Bank.
