Separated for 25 years, a brother and his older sister will finally be reunited in the United States. According to several American media, including CNN and CBS, a man missing since August 1999 was found by his sister after the publication of a photograph in the press last May.
According to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office in northeastern California, the origin of this “happy ending” dates back to May 9. That day, USA Today published an article reporting that Saint Francis Hospital in Los Angeles was seeking to identify a 60-year-old person. Found a month earlier in the south of the city, this patient cannot communicate and cannot give his name.
Identified by fingerprints
But it wasn’t until Friday, Nov. 22, six months after this article was published, that a woman contacted the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office. He thinks that the man in the photo is his brother, whom he has not heard from since he disappeared in Doyle, a town of just over 500 inhabitants.
Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Kennemore contacted Saint Francis Hospital and learned that the unknown man had been transferred to another facility in July. The latter confirms that an unidentified man who cannot communicate is indeed one of his patients.
At Kennemore’s request, the LAPD’s missing persons unit sends one of its detectives to take the stranger’s fingerprints. They reveal that he is indeed the brother they are looking for. “The family will soon be reunited,” the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office explained Monday.
An online prize pool was created
“Delighted to find him alive,” the sister of the found man created an online fundraiser to raise the funds necessary to transfer her brother to a hospital closer to her home.
Meanwhile, “I would like to send him a device so that he can listen to his favorite songs (“Navigating”, “I want to know what love is” and “Again and again” are 3) to stimulate his memory and get a response from him”, duck.
This Saturday, the prize pool raised about 10,000 dollars, that is, about 9,450 euros.
