Gaza: Hamas’s armed wing releases video of Israeli-American hostage

This video of Edan Alexander, 20, was published this Saturday, November 30, but we do not know the date of its recording. We see the young man asking the Israelis to pressure the government to release him and all the hostages still held in the Gaza Strip.

The armed wing of Hamas published this Saturday, November 30, a new video of one of the Israelis taken hostage on October 7, 2023 during the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israel from the Gaza Strip.

The video, whose recording date cannot be verified, shows a young man speaking in English with the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, and in Hebrew with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

He calls on Israelis to pressure the government to release him and all hostages still held captive in Gaza. The family of the young man, Edan Alexander, a 20-year-old Israeli-American, authorized the publication of the video.

“There are still hostages alive”

Hamas and Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian armed movement that participated in the October 7 attack, have already released hostage videos in the past.

“The shocking video of Edan, an Israeli-American citizen, is clear proof that, despite the rumors, there are still hostages alive and suffering greatly,” said the Hostage Families Forum, a collective that brings together the majority of hostage families in Gaza.

“One year after the first and only agreement, it is clear to everyone: we will only be able to recover the hostages through an agreement,” adds the Forum in a press release.

Since the start of the war in Gaza, only one truce came into force, in November 2023, during which 105 hostages were released within the framework of an agreement that also allowed the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners detained by Israel. Since then, seven hostages. They have been liberated by the Israeli army.

Among the hostages there are still foreigners, six Thais and one Nepalese, and several with dual nationality. During the unprecedented attack by Hamas commandos on October 7, 2023, 251 people were kidnapped on Israeli soil. A total of 97 hostages remain in Gaza, 34 of whom were declared dead by the army.
