Older marriage, happy marriage. Fay Gable and Robert Wenrich, two Americans who divorced in 1975, are preparing to celebrate their union again this Sunday, December 8 in Pennsylvania, almost half a century later.
In November 1951, Fay had already married for the first time to the man who was then her older brother’s best friend. They had four children together, but divorced in 1975 for reasons they declined to discuss with AP News.
Both remarried in the meantime, finally deciding to get back together after the death of their respective spouses, with whom they remained for a long time. Fay and Robert always had a good relationship and often attended family events together.
“They are like two teenagers in love”
“They’re like two teenagers in love. They do everything together,” Carol Smith, the couple’s youngest daughter, told Lancaster Online, a local media outlet in a county of the same name in Pennsylvania.
“She was the first love of my life. I never thought I would find her again. And now that it’s done, I’m not going to waste my time,” her father reportedly said in comments reported by the young woman.
“Now I think everything will be fine for the next few years,” the nonagenarian rejoiced to AP News. Robert Weinrich celebrated his 94th birthday on Friday, while his ex and future wife is 89 years old.
They have 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and even two great-great-grandchildren. Fay Gable also has two stepchildren who will attend the wedding scheduled for this Sunday near Denver.
