The Head of State left this message during a visit to the Diplomatic Bazaar, at the Lisbon Conference Center, a solidarity initiative that is held annually and that in this edition did not have stands from the Russian Federation or Ukraine.
Passing by the bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa spoke with Ambassador Morteza Damanpak Jami and, saying goodbye, told him: “You must treat women, young students, women with care, because it is good for you and good for the world”. “.
It is a “human rights” issue, said the President of the Republic, who spoke in English, with journalists around him.
Leaving the Lisbon Congress Center, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa confirmed that he had told the Iranian ambassador “to look at how the Iranian authorities are addressing the role of women and the civic intervention of young women in Iran, defending their rights.” .

During this visit to the Diplomatic Bazaar, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had an animated conversation with the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal, Zhao Bentang, to whom he suggested: “Introduce yourself one day at the Belém Palace, in Lisbon, that’s fine” . ?explain the party congress [Comunista da China (PCC)]so that I understand.”
