Humanitarian aid in Gaza is “threatened with the total collapse” due to the blockade imposed by Israel at the entrance of this aid since March 2, warning on Thursday, April 17, twelve NGOs in a joint statement.
“Let’s do our work”, I urge the representatives of the doctors of the world, Oxfam and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and other NGOs that say they face “one of the worst humanitarian failures of our generation.”
Virtually all NGOs have had to strongly suspend or reduce their help in the Palestinian territory since the rupture of Alto El Fuego on March 18, underlines these organizations that cite a survey conducted with 43 NGOs providing assistance to Gaza.
“We have ready supplies”
“Each resident of Gaza depends on humanitarian aid to survive. This line of life has been completely cut since the Israeli authorities imposed a blockade at the entrance to the aid on March 2,” they write.
“We have ready supplies. We have trained medical staff. We have the necessary experience. What we lack is access, or the guarantee of the Israeli authorities that our teams can do their job safely,” they add.
Some 400 humanitarian workers and 1,300 health personnel have been killed since October 2023 in Gaza, remember these NGOs, citing a UN evaluation.

“We call on all the parties that guarantee the safety of our staff and that allows safe access and without obstacles to Gaza assistance at all entry points, and we ask world leaders to oppose any new restriction,” they ask.
According to the Ministry of Health of Hamas, at least 1,691 Palestinians have been killed since March 18, which takes 51,065 the number of deaths in Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli reprisals of the offensive 18 months ago.
The October 7 attack led to the death of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official data.
