The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas announced that the fate of American Israeli hostages Edan Alexander was unknown on Saturday, April 19, four days after indicating that contact with his jailers had been lost in the Gaza Strip.
“We fix them to recover the body of a martyr (dead) responsible for guaranteeing the safety of the prisoner Edan Alexander, but the fate of the latter, as well as the other combatants of the prison, is still unknown,” said Abou Obeida, spokesman Ezzedine al-Qassam, armed branch of Hamas, in his telegrams channel.
On Tuesday, Abou Obeida had announced that he had “lost contact” with the group that owns Edican Alexander after an Israeli bombing in the place where the hostages and their jailers were.

“We are trying to protect everyone (hostages) and preserve their lives despite the brutality of the attack, but their lives are in danger due to criminal bombings led by the enemy army,” he said on Saturday.
Hamas had released a video by Edan Alexander on April 12. Captured while using an elite unit near Gaza, he criticized the Israeli government there for the continuation of his arrest.
During the unprecedented attack perpetrated by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, 251 people had been eliminated. Fifty -eight are still retained in Gaza, including 34 dead, according to the Israeli army.
