Eleven people died and others were injured in a traffic accident in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico, authorities said on Wednesday, April 23.
A truck caused the collision on Tuesday night when leaving its route on a road between the towns of Guachochi and Yoquivo, said the prosecutor of Chihuahua in a statement.
“The driver of the vehicle that would have caused the accident fled from the facilities, and then, several armed people removed the vehicle in a matter of the site,” added the prosecutor’s office.
Traffic accidents are increasing in Mexico
The prosecutor said that injured people were transported to several hospitals in the region.
Traffic accidents in Mexico have multiplied in recent years. The main reasons are the bad condition of vehicles, recklessness or fatigue of drivers.
In one of the most tragic accidents of the current year, the collision between a cargo truck and a bus died of 38 people on February 8 in the state of Campeche (southeast).
