Donald Trump announced this Sunday, May 4, after asking his administration to open and modernize the emblematic prison of Alcatraz, in the Bay of San Francisco in California, to lock the most violent criminals.
“For too long, the United States has been the victim of vicious, violent and recurring criminals, the lie of society, which will never bring anything more than misery and suffering,” wrote the Republican billionaire in Truth Social.
“Criminals who sow dirt, blood and chaos”
“When we were a more serious nation, in the past, we do not hesitate to enclose the most dangerous criminals and keep them away from anyone who can harm them. This is how it should be. We will no longer tolerate these series criminals who sow Dirt, blood and chaos in our streets.”
“That is why I order today in the Prison Office, as well as in the Ministry of Justice, the FBI and the Ministry of Interior to reopen, expand substantially and rebuild Alcatraz to enclose the most dangerous and violent criminals in the United States.”
Closed after only 29 years of service
Donald Trump believes that the restart of the establishment, closed in March 1963, will be a “law symbol, order and justice.” The establishment, where the best chefs in the mafia had been imprisoned and, in particular, to Capone, was closed after only 29 years of service due to too high operating costs, according to the US prison office.
Located two kilometers from the coast, the old prison is today an emblematic tourist attraction of the Bay of San Francisco, California. The US president has made the fight against crime a key element in his second mandate in the White House.
