The Polish authorities accused Russian intelligence services this Sunday, May 11, having commanded a fire that destroyed a large store hall last year in Warsaw.
From the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, Poland, a faithful ally of kyiv, said he is the goal of attempts at orchestrated sabotage acts, according to Russia.
In May of last year, a completely destroyed fire in the Polish capital a large living room with 1,400 small stores, mainly owned by members of the Vietnamese community. The authorities immediately initiated an important investigation, but had previously rejected any questioning of Moscow.
“Now we know, on the basis of the evidence collected, that the fire is the result of a criminal fire ordered by Russian special services,” said the Ministries of Justice and the interior on Sunday, head of special services, in a joint statement published in X.

Warsaw indicates in its press release that it has “an in -depth knowledge of the order and the course of the fire and the way in which the authors documented it.”
“His actions were organized and directed by an identified person who lives in the Russian Federation,” the text said. According to the press release, “some of the authors are already detained, the others are identified and sought after.”
The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, confirmed this information on the social network X, launching: “We will all have it!”
Polish services have still indicated to cooperate “with Lithuania, where some of the authors have also carried out diversion activities.”
From the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Poland arrested and sentenced several suspected people of sabotage acts on behalf of Russian intelligence services and accused of tobacco, fires or attempts at criminals.
“Terrorism” acts?
In May 2024, Poland decided to impose restrictions on the movements of Russian diplomats in their soil due to Moscow’s “participation” in “a hybrid war.” And five months later, Warsaw ordered the Russian consulate in Poznan (west), accusing Moscow of organizing “sabotage attempts.”
Last December, Polish diplomacy declared a list to close all Russian consulates in Poland if the acts of “terrorism” continue. In fact, in reprisals, Russia closed the Polish consulate in St. Petersburg in January.
