The three -year -old Cher Maximem daughter had seen that her mother was stabbed during the Notting Hill Carnival in London last August. For this murder, Shakeil Thibou, a 20 -year -old Londonian, was sentenced to chain to chain prison to Friday, May 16, with a 29 -year security period.
The 32 -year -old victim had succumbed to his wounds to the hospital six days later. They had moved her while a fight between several men broke out during this event.
During the Carnival, the second largest in the world, the police identified eight stabbed people, three of whom had their vital prognosis. 230 people had been arrested during this weekend of holiday that brought together more than one million people in western London.
A “terrifying” attack
For Judge Philip Katz, this is a “shameless” attack. “It is not possible to overestimate the impact of the brutal and shocking murder of Cher on those who met him,” he said when he pronounced the problem this Friday, May 16.
The judge deplored that the daughter of the three -year -old victim “saw her mother be killed before her”, observing “scary” images, the death of Cher Maximem was captured on video. “The police were completely overwhelmed in number while violence became uncontrollable,” Judge Philip Katz said in comments reported by the BBC.
During the trial, the victim’s relatives testified, describing a woman who lived “of love, laughs, games, crying and vacation,” according to his grandmother’s testimony.
“The hole in my heart will never be filled. Life will never be the same again,” he told the Court.
Two older brothers of Shakeil Thibou were also convicted. One, 25, was declared guilty of violent problems and assault against a police officer who tried to intervene to end this fight. The other, 22, was innocent for acts of violent problems, but was declared guilty of having attacked a police member.
These attacks with “zombies” knives (double -edged arms, curved blade) have multiplied in recent years in London, where more than 50,000 stabbing attacks were identified last year. In September, a law entered into force that prohibits machetes and these knives associated with gang cultivation.
