Paris “very concerned about his state of health”

On Tuesday, the head of the French diplomacy Jean-Noël Barot said that Paris still expected the Algerian authorities to consent in “a gesture of humanity” in favor of Boalem Sansal, who suffers from cancer.

“I am very worried about his state of health. He is an elderly man and is weakened,” said Jean-Noël Barrot in the Internet of Inter.

He said he expected the appeal judgment to be held “as soon as possible, if possible in the next few days, so that after this sentence, a gesture of humanity, which we call the Algerian authorities, could be removed from it.”

Algeria and France have been going through a diplomatic crisis considered one of the most serious since last summer since the Algerian War (1954-1962), marked in recent days by a new series of officials of public officials on both sides. All cooperation is frozen.
