“The police gave me a capuchino”: how a 19 -year -old Syrian refugee became a hero after the knife attack in Hamburg

The Syrian refugee Muhammad Al Muhammad was at the dock of the Central Station of Hamburg when he took his courage in both hands to control the alleged author of the knife attack.

In the space of a few days, Muhammad al Muhammad has become the Hamburg hero. The 19 years, this Syrian refugee from Aleppo was received for his reaction after the attack with a knife in Hamburg, who was injured 18 on Friday, May 23. On Friday, a 39 -year -old German was arrested at the scene of the knife attack and was probably in psychological anguish. She was also admitted to a psychiatric hospital after being presented to a judge. All injured are in a stable state.

At the time of events, Muhammad Al Muhammad returned home in Buchholz, 25 km from Hamburg, after visiting a friend. He was waiting for his train on the platform when he saw a woman brandishing a knife and the people fleeing the woman.

“I decided to run in the other direction to stop the woman,” he said with the magazine.

In the midst of the flight, the alleged author is arrested by another man who kicks him in the knee, which made him fall.

“I kept her on the floor and hugged her hands against her backpack so she couldn’t get up,” he said. “The woman did not shout, she did not resist.”

The police arrived a few moments later, first pointing their weapons to the two men. According to German magazine, the actions of the two men probably avoided that more people are injured.

The history of this rescue was rapidly extended in the country, which caused the reaction of the extreme right party and the alternative anti -immigrant Für Deutschland, who tried to link immigration and crime.

Muhammad said that after the assault, he was interviewed by the police before returning home. “The police thanked me and offered me a Capuchino,” he said. “It made me very happy.”
