The crisis continues in the Palestinian enclave. This Tuesday, May 27, thousands of people on Tuesday 27, they rushed to a new help distribution center for a foundation supported by Israel and the United States in the south of the Gaza Strip, causing chaos scenes.
An unbearable scene that enters while Israel intensified in mid -May its offensive in the Palestinian, hungry and devastated territory for 19 months of war, establishes a new help distribution system, disputed by the humanitarian community.
According to the Humanitarian Foundation of Gaza (GHF), recently created from scratch and distribution organizer in Rafah, at the southern end of the Gaza Strip, “normal operations resumed” after the incident.
“A momentary control of control”
Under strong international pressures, Israel partially raised the total blockade of humanitarian births that had imposed on March 2 in the Palestinian territory, which aggravated the shortage of food and drugs.
“It was standing in the tail at a point of distribution of help to Rafah with hundreds of citizens, and suddenly a large number of people began to press and enter completely randomly,” said Ayman’s journalist from Ayman Abou Zaïd.
“It was due to the lack of help and the delay in distribution, so they tried to return to take everything they could,” he added.
At one point, he continued, “Israeli forces began to shoot, the sound was very scary and people began to disperse, but some continued to try to help despite the danger.”
The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, acknowledged “a momentary control of control” on the site, after the Israeli army said their troops “made warning fire in the area outside the enclosure.”
Israel’s efforts have lamented “miserably failed”
“Control of the situation has been restored, food distribution operations should continue as planned and the safety of Israeli army troops has not been compromised,” added the army.
The images of the scene that circulate are “heartbreaking”, reacted to the spokesman of the UN Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, while the United Nations were excluded to collaborate with the GHF.
According to this organization, the influx was such that his team “retreated to allow a small number of Gazauis to receive help with total security [avant de] disperse. “
The images showed crowds that left the area on Tuesday loaded with supplies, even in boxes marked with the acronym GHF.
The Foundation also accused “dams imposed by Hamas” of having taken Rafah aid distribution, one of the two centers that opened on Tuesday, for a total of four announced in the short term in the center and southern of the Gaza Strip.
The “invasion” of the center “for thousands of hungry” demonstrates that Israel’s efforts to distribute humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip by overlooking the United Nations “failed miserably,” said Hamas Government Press Office in Gaza.
462,000 meals for 2.4 million inhabitants
The GHF has also indicated that so far it has distributed around “8,000 food packages” that represent “a total of 462,000 meals”, for a population of 2.4 million people.
Israel, who accuses Hamas of diverting humanitarian births, that the Palestinian Islamist movement Nie, supported the activities of this organization.
But GHF is accused in the international humanitarian community to help Israel achieve its military objectives in Gaza, in violation of humanitarian principles, to avoid the UN and exclude the Palestinians.
“We and our partners have a detailed plan, based on principles and a solid operational level, backed by the Member States, to transport help to desperate populations,” said Stéphane Durric.
Washington, meanwhile, called as a “hypocrisy top” criticism of the UN on humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Registered in Geneva in February, the GHF does not have known offices or representatives in this city, headquarters of international humanitarian organizations. And its former executive director, Jake Wood, announced his resignation on Sunday, considering impossible to do his job following the humanitarian principles of neutrality and independence.
