A new speech in emotion. Riyad Mansour, the representative of Palestine, melted in tears by evoking the war in Gaza this Wednesday, May 28 at the United Nations World Headquarters in New York.
The 78 -year -old diplomat moved particularly when evoking the food situation of young Gazaouis.
“Beyond human tolerance”
In tears, Riyad Mansour evokes the particularly dramatic humanitarian situation for children.
“The images of children who die of hunger, the images of mothers hugged the bodies of their little motionless, stroking their hair, talking to them, apologizing to them, they are unbearable,” says the Palestinian representative.
“I have grandchildren. I know what they represent for their families (…) you call and hunger devour Palestinian children. That is why we are so outraged,” he added, evoking a humanitarian situation that goes “beyond human tolerance” and needs the intervention of the international organization.
Last January, Riyad Mansour had already spoken, even with emotion, to read a letter from Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila, who died in an Israeli strike launched at the Al-Awda hospital (north of the enclave), where he worked, in November 2023.
This Wednesday, a high UN official said that forty people had been injured, most of them by Israeli military fires, regardless of a distribution of humanitarian aid by a new organization, supported by the United States, but suspicious of links with Israel.
Information denied by Israel, which, however, recognizes “citation in the air.”
