The holidays became drama. A lion killed a 59 -year -old tourist in a luxury tents complex in a remote region in northwest Namibia, police announced.
The victim camped with other tourists in this tourist complex when the incident occurred early in the morning, police said.
He was attacked when he left his store to go to the bathroom, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Environment, Neshipanda Hamunyela, with a local media informant. Other campers managed to scare the lion, but the man was already dead.
An “in -depth research” was launched
Police “goes to the scene and an in -depth investigation will be carried out,” said spokesman Elifas Kuwinga.
These lions live in the remote regions of the northwest of the country, where the mountains and sand dunes are located.
In 2023, they were estimated at around 60 adults and more than a dozen lion puppies. But his number has decreased in recent months after a fall in dams due to drought and conflicts with man.
