Vladimir Putin reheats the negotiations. The Kremlin spokesman announced on Thursday, May 29 that the Russian delegation sent to negotiate peace with Ukraine in Istanbul on May 2 “will be the same” as during the first meeting. The Russian president had not participated, while Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to meet him on the spot.
“The composition of the Russian delegation in the second cycle of negotiations in Istanbul will be the same, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
Upstream of this meeting, Kyiv had asked to know the “memorandum” of the Kremlin, that is, its requirements in order to stop the fight, before holding this meeting in Türkiye. Russia has refused to communicate these upstream elements.
“The fear of the Russians to send their” memorandum “to Ukraine suggests that it is probably full of unrealistic ultimatumes, and that they are afraid to reveal that they are blocking the peace process,” said Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesman for the Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced a new “maneuver” of Russia, accusing him of doing everything to make “empty” conversations.
