The Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip reported on Sunday, June 1, at least 10 dead and more than 100 injured in the Israeli fire against people who were heading to an American food aid center.
“At least 10 Palestinians were killed and more than 100 ages wounded due to the shooting of Israeli vehicles to thousands of citizens who went early Saturday morning towards the American aid site west of Rafah”, in the south of the Gaza Strip, the spokesman for the basal Mahmoud civil defense told AFP.
A humanitarian disaster
The humanitarian situation is disastrous in the Gaza Strip, where a blockade of more than two months, partially relaxed last week, resulted in a serious shortage of food, drugs and other basic needs.
Israel recently intensified its military operations there, with the aim of taking control of the entire Palestinian territory, destroying Hamas, and releasing the last hostages eliminated during the unprecedented attack against the Palestinian Islamist movement on October 7, 2023 in Israel, which caused the war.
This Friday, the UN denounced the looting of armed people with “large amounts” of medical equipment and nutritional supplements that have just arrived at a hospital from countries in the center of the Gaza strip.
And on Wednesday, a warehouse of the World Food Program (PAM) in the territory had been looted by “hordes of hungry people”, according to this United Nations Agency.
