A fire killed 3 people and 34 wounded on Saturday, June 1 at a Hamburg hospital in Northern Germany on Sunday, June 1, according to a temporary report by local firefighters.
The fire went around midnight in a geriatric service chamber of the Mariekrankenhaus establishment in the city of Hanseatic and quickly threatened to extend to the first floor through the outer facade, said a spokesman for firefighters, Lorenz Hartmann.
Causes under investigation
“Several elders and reduced mobility had to be evacuated through the halls,” he added.
In the end, “Firefighters quickly controlled the fire and prevented the flames from spreading to other patients,” said the spokesman. The reasons for the fire could be established immediately.
