Iran denounced, this Saturday, June 7, a “racist mentality” on Saturday, June 7, behind the prohibition of nationals to go to the United States, a measure imposed by Washington in 12 countries. It is “a clear sign of the domination of a supremacist and racist mentality between US political decision makers,” said Alireza Hashemi-Raja, responsible for the affairs of the Iranians abroad, punishing a “deep hostility towards Iranians and Muslims.”
The United States will prevent nationals from 12 countries from entering their territory on Monday to “protect” the country, Donald Trump announced Wednesday, remembering the prohibition of their first mandate.
Violation of “International Law”
In addition to Iran, a jury enemy of the United States from the Islamic Revolution of 1979, the decision also applies to Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
This decision “violates the fundamental principles of international law” and deprives “hundreds of millions of people from the right to travel only because of their nationality or religion,” added Alireza Hashemi-Raja, denouncing “systematic racial discrimination.” The number of Iranians living in the United States is estimated at 1.5 million, according to the latest statistics of the Iran Foreign Ministry in 2020.
Seven other countries are also attacked by restrictions: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. The players who participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as in the athletes of the Los Angeles Olympic Games (2028) will not be affected by the restrictions.
Exceptions are planned for the headlines of certain visas and for people whose trip to the United States “served national interest,” said the White House on June 5.
