Russia accused Ukraine this Saturday, June 7, having postponed the exchange of prisoners on Saturday, June 7, to be held this weekend, after the large -scale Russian strikes had markedly touched Kharkiv, the second Ukrainian city.
According to the Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinski, “the Ukrainian part has unexpectedly postponed the reception of the bodies of” dead soldiers “and the exchange of prisoners of war on an indefinite date.”
This exchange was the only concrete result of Russian-Ukrainian conversations in Turkey, when Moscow and kyiv had agreed on Monday to release all seriously injured or sick warfare prisoners, as well as those under 25, after a precedent on 1,000 people on each side in May.
Kyiv accuses Russia of “unfair games”
On the telegram, the Russian negotiator Medinski called kyiv to “recover the bodies of 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers, ensuring that” 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers are already in the place of exchange “on the Russian-Ukrenian border.
According to Vladimir Medinski, “the first list of 640 prisoners of war (…) was provided to Ukraine to begin the exchange.”
A few hours later, the Ukrainian response was not long to arrive. The latter had rejected the Russian accusations this Saturday for having “postponed” the exchange of prisoners and bodies of thousands of murdered soldiers
“The statements made today by the Russian party do not correspond to the reality or the previous agreements,” said the Telegram coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war, accusing Russia of “unfair games” and “manipulations.”
