Gaza’s civil defense said the Israeli forces had opened fire against people who sought humanitarian aid on Wednesday, June 12, killing 31 people and around 200 wounds in the Palestinian territory devastated for more than twenty months of war.
“We transported at least 31 martyrs and around 200 injured as a result of Israeli tanks and drones in thousands of citizens (…) who were going to receive food at the American Aid Center,” near the crossroads of the martyrs called Netzarim by the Israelis, said the Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.
Thousands of Palestinians had begun to meet during the night in the hope of reaching this food distribution center of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), in the center of the Palestinian territory, added to the spokesman of this rescue organization.
“Drones shots aimed at civilians”
“The Israeli tanks have triggered several times, then around 05:30 (4:30 am, French time), intensified their shots and at the same time there were drone fires aimed at civilians,” said the spokesman for the civil defense.
The director of the Al-Chifa hospital in the city of Gaza (North), Mohammad Abu Salima, said he had received the bodies of 24 people killed while waiting to enter the help center and was treated for 96 injured.
There have been a series of fatal events since the opening on May 27 in Gaza of the help centers managed by the GHF, an organization with opaque funds supported by the United States and Israel. The UN refuses to work with this organization due to concerns about its processes and neutrality.
The Israeli army intensified in mid -May its offensive in the Gaza Strip in mid -May, to free the last hostages, take control of the entire small territory trapped between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean, and destroy Hamas that took power in 2007.
