“We are not going to tolerate this”: Donald Trump wants the cancellation of the corruption trial against Benjamin Netanyahu

The Israeli prime minister is accused in three different cases, and his trial has postponed several times since his opening in May 2020. His American counterpart calls to cancel him, saying that an “agreement” is close to Hamas.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Saturday, June 28 that he will not “tolerate” the continuation of the corruption of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose cancellation had already claimed.

“The United States of America spends billions of dollars a year, much more than for any other nation, to protect and support Israel,” the US president wrote on his social platform of truth.

“We are not going to tolerate this,” he added in reference to the current trial in Israel.

Benjamin Netanyahu “is negotiating an agreement with Hamas, which will include the release of hostages.

Rejection of a suspension request

On Friday, an Israeli court rejected Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to suspend his hearings in his corruption trial for two weeks.

The lawyer of the Israeli prime minister had asked for the postponement of the hearings before resuming next week invoking “developments in the region and the world”, after the war with Iran and with the continuation of the conflict in Gaza.

Subsequently, he submitted to the court a new request requesting the cancellation of the following two hearings.

Donald Trump had already called on Wednesday the cancellation of the trial, which he had described as a “witch hunt.” Otherwise, he had recommended that a grace “granted to a great hero”, the day after the stop the fire between Israel and Iran.

Benjamin Netanyahu denied any representable act during the trial, postponed several times since its opening in May 2020.

In a first case, he was accused, with his wife Sara Netanyahu, of having accepted luxury products worth more than $ 260,000, such as cigarettes, jewelry and champagne, billionaires, in exchange for political favors. In two other cases, Benjamin Netanyahu is accused of having tried to negotiate a more favorable coverage in two Israeli media.
