Donald Trump said Tuesday, July 1 that Israel had agreed to finish the terms of a 60 -day fire in the Gaza Strip, and called Hamas to accept what he described as “final proposal.”
“My representatives today had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis in Gaza,” the US president wrote on his social platform of truth.
“Israel accepted the necessary conditions to end the high fire of 60 days, during which we will work with all the parties to end the war,” he added.
“The Qatar and the Egyptians, who worked hard to contribute to peace, will present this final proposal,” Donald Trump continued, saying “waiting, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas will accept this agreement, because the situation will not improve, it will only worsen.”
Benjamin Netanyahu visiting Washington
The Minister of Strategic Affairs of Israel, Ron Dermer, was in Washington on Tuesday to meet with senior officials in the White House.
The Israeli army announced Tuesday that it has extended its offensive to the Gaza Strip, where its operations left 26 dead, according to the Palestinian aid, a few days before a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump in Washington.
On early Tuesday, the US president said he would be “very firm” with the Israeli prime minister to obtain a high fire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
“Very firm, very firm,” Donald Trump replied while asked about his attitude towards the head of the Israeli government during his scheduled visit for Washington next Monday.
“We hope it will happen, and we hope it will happen during the next week,” he told a journalist who asked if a truce in the Palestinian territory could occur due to the visit to the United States of Benjamin Netanyahu.
The rapid 12 -day war resolution between Israel and Iran has revived the hopes of the struggle of the fight in Gaza, where more than 20 months of clashes have created catastrophic humanitarian conditions for a population of more than two million people. The war was released by an unprecedented attack in Hamas in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
