Nuclear: They will officially suspend their cooperation with AIEA

Following the Alto El Fuego with Israel, the Iranian Parliament had greatly voted a bill that suspended Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. This law has just been promulgated. The Iranian authorities had denounced the “malicious intentions” of the director of the UN Agency.

Iran officially suspended his cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (OIEA) on Wednesday, July 2, after multiplying the accusations against him since the recent war with Israel.

On June 25, after Alto El Fuego, which ended 12 days of war, the Iranian Parliament had greatly voted a bill that suspended cooperation between the Islamic Republic and this UN Agency.

Then, the law was approved by the Guardian Council, the body responsible for examining the legislation in Iran, before being ratified by Iranian president, Massaud fishshkian, and thus enter into force.

Massaud fishshkian “promulgated the law that suspended cooperation” with AIEA, public television announced Wednesday.

A request to visit the rejected nuclear sites

Iranian officials had strongly denounced what they call the “silence” of the OIEA in front of Israeli and American bombings in Iran’s nuclear sites.

Tehran had also criticized the agency for a resolution adopted on June 12, on the eve of the first Israeli strikes, which accused Iran of lack of equal obligations with its nuclear obligations. Iranian officials said that this resolution was one of the “apologies” for the Israeli attack.

Iran has also rejected a request from the general director of the OIEA, Rafael Grossi, to visit its nuclear facilities bombarded during the war, in order to establish what happened with the enriched uranium stock at a level close to the design threshold of an atomic bomb available for Iran.

“Malicious intentions”

At the end of June, the head of the Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi, had denounced the “malicious intentions” of Rafael Grossi.

Stating that Iran was about to acquire the atomic bomb, an ambition that has been denied by Tehran, Israel had launched strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, which led to the death of high offices and scientists who developed the nuclear program.

The US president, Donald Trump, had sent Bombarderos on the night of June 21 and 22 to attack the underground enrichment site of Fordo Uranium, south of Tehran and nuclear facilities in Ispahan and Natanz, in the center of Iran.
