CRASH OF THE AIR INDIA BOEING 787: The fuel energy cut is not due to a equipment anomaly

An internal note of the Air India airline states that the inspection of the fuel feed switches has not revealed any anomaly in the equipment. It is the cut of these switches that is questioned in the accident.

The inspection of the fuel switches in Boeing 787 Air India, involved after the accident that killed 260 dead on June 12, did not reveal any anomaly, according to an internal note published by the company.

In a preliminary report, the Indian Air Accident Research Office (AAIB) said on Saturday, July 12 that the diet of the two aircraft reactors was interrupted just after taking off from Ahmedabad.

The cut of these switches caused a sudden loss of power of the plane’s engines, which fell into buildings near the city airport (northwest).

There is no responsibility to point out for the moment

The AAIB document has not yet been drawn or indicated.

However, the cabin conversations recorder revealed that one of the pilots asked the other “why he cut the fuel food” and that the latter had responded “he did not,” said the AAIB.

Following this report, the Indian of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered to verify these devices in various types of Boeing, including 787, registered in India.

“Our engineers led this weekend verify the blocking systems of these switches (FCS) in all our Boeing 787,” wrote an internal note from Air India to their pilots whose AFP learned this Thursday, July 17, 2025.

“These inspections are completed and have not revealed any particular problem,” the document continues.

An “recommended and non -mandatory” inspection

Other countries have ordered the same control measures to their companies equipped with Boeing 787 Dreamliner, especially Singapore, without detecting the slightest anomaly.

The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) published in 2018 a note of information on “the possible disconnection of the locking function of the fuel control switch” in certain models manufactured by Boeing, including 787.

Air India informed the AAIB that he had not done an inspection because this measure was only “advised and not mandatory.” In a letter to its employees on Monday, the company’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, warned “any premature conclusion” about the causes of disaster on flight 171.
