The American emissary Steve Witkoff acted on Thursday, July 24, the failure of the conversations made in Doha for a high fire in the Gaza Strip, questioning Hamas’ good faith, and says he considers “other options” to bring the hostages back.
“We have decided to repatriate our Doha team to consult after Hamas’ last response, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a high fire in Gaza,” said the special envoy of the peace missions in a press release.
“Although mediators have made considerable efforts, Hamas does not seem to act in a coordinated or good faith manner,” he said, emphasizing that the United States and their partners “were now considering other options to bring them to hostages and try to create a more stable environment for the population of Gaza.”
Hamas acted “selfishly”
Steve Witkoff has still considered “unfortunate that Hamas acted as selfish,” while reaffirming his will to “end this conflict and establish a lasting peace in Gaza.”
Previously, Israel had announced the withdrawal of consultations from its negotiators involved in Qatar in the discussions of Alto El Fuego with Hamas.
The previous day, the Palestinian Islamist movement said it had responded to a 60 -day truce proposal in the Gaza Strip, while international pressure intensified to end almost two years of a devastating war in Gaza.
The White House said on Wednesday that Steve Witkoff went to Europe to talk about the situation in Gaza without revealing its precise destination.
