The UN Humanitarian Operations Chief Tom Fletcher praised the announcement this Sunday, July 27 by Israel, the opening of safe land roads to Gaza for humanitarian convoy and said that the UN would try to reach as many people as possible.
“Announcement of humanitarian breaks in Gaza to allow us to pass. In contact with our teams in the field that will do everything possible to reach as many hungry people as we can,” he wrote in X.
The coordination of the humanitarian affairs of Tom Fletcher ONM (Ocha) (Ocha) had warned Friday that the conditions in Gaza “were already catastrophic and quickly deteriorated.”
“The famine crisis is getting worse,” he warned, warning that hunger and malnutrition increase the risk of disease, adding that the consequences could “become fatal” quickly. “
“Life is removed from Gaza, while the systems and services are on the verge of collapse,” warned the Ocha, and added that “the help network that enters the band is far from being sufficient to meet the immense needs.”
Fifteen attempts of humanitarian maneuvers rejected by Israel
The Ocha announced that UN teams were in place to intensify deliveries in the Palestinian territory “as soon as they are allowed to do so.”
“If Israel opens the border, leaves gasoline and equipment and allows humanitarian equipment to operate safely, the UN will accelerate the delivery of food, health services, drinking water and waste management, supplies and nutritional materials for shelters,” the institution said.
The Ocha said that the limitations imposed by the Israeli authorities have hindered the ability of humanitarian workers to meet the needs.
It indicates, for example, that fifteen attempts to coordinate humanitarian maneuvers in Gaza on Thursday, four were “categorically rejected” and three other obstacles. One has been postponed and two others canceled, therefore, allowing the possession of only five missions.
