An armed man, alone, killed at least four people in the heart of Manhattan in New York on Monday, July 28, around 6.30 pm local time (00:30 am French time), we learned from several US media. The shooter was “neutralized” and was found dead.
• Four people killed, another seriously injured
The attack took place in a building, notably welcoming the offices of the National Soccer League of the United States (NFL) and the Blackstone Investment Company, located on 52nd Avenue, south of Central Park, in the center of Manhattan.
The shooter, alone, opened fire with an assault rifle in the mid -peak hour in the hall. According to the American media, the man took the elevator to go to the 33rd floor, occupied by the Rudin management company, where he once again opened fire.
When taking the elevator, he let a woman leave the plane and run away without shooting her, she was able to observe the authorities in the surveillance images.
According to the New York Police, the man was “neutralized.” A police officer clarified that he was found dead, after he probably returned his weapon against himself.
The shooter killed four people: three men, including a police officer, and a woman. A fifth person, triggered, is still seriously injured but now in a stable state according to CNN. Four other people were slightly injured while trying to flee from the scene.
An investigation was opened, in collaboration with the FBI. The building was meticulously wanted “but we believe that the incident is over and that the shooter acted alone,” wrote the mayor of New York in X.

The identity of the shooter was presented in several American media. The man was called Shane Devon Tamura and was 27 years old. He crossed all the United States from Las Vegas (Nevada) by car to get to New York on Monday.
Various media, including CNN and the New York PostShow a photograph of a mustache man who walks alone in the street with a long rifle in his right hand, dressed in sunglasses and a dark jacket, just before the start of the shots.
His motivations are not known, but the police evoke “mental health history” in their archive, but there is no judicial history. Police have found other weapons in the suspect car, according to CNN. Shane Devon Tamura had a weapons port permit in Nevada.
Some media also pointed out that Shane Devon Tamura had done American football when he was in high school, without giving a direct link between his activity and this attack on a building that hosts the NFL offices.

The identity of the victims was not revealed, with the exception of the police killed in this murder. Didarul Islam, 36, was not in service when he was killed, but then took care of the building’s safety.
