The violence of Israeli settlers in the West Bank are “acts of terrorism,” said the Ministry of French Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, July 28, after “the murder” attributed to a colonist of the anti -ocupation activist Awdah Hathaleen, who had notably collaborated with the recently documentary of the Oscaritarian “another land”.
“France condemns this murder with the greatest firmness, as well as all deliberate violence perpetrated by extremist settlers against the Palestinian population that multiply through the West Bank,” said the ministry spokesman, adding: “This violence is acts of terrorism.”
This is the first time that French diplomacy has described the actions of Israeli settlers.
30 people killed by settlers since 2022
“The settlers have left more than 30 dead since the beginning of 2022. Israeli authorities must assume responsibility and immediately sanction the perpetrators of this violence, who continue with impunity and protect the Palestinian civilians,” he added.
The Palestinian authority announced on Monday that an Israeli anti-ocupation activist of the West Bank had been demolished by the settlers, the Israeli police who evoked an investigation in progress, without confirming a murder.
“The Ministry of Education (…) and the teaching community cry the Awdah Muhammad Hathaleen martyr,” the ministry on social networks said.
“The teacher (…) was shot down by the settlers on Monday, July 28, 2025 during his attack” against the people of Umm al-Khair, near Hebron, in southern Bank, he adds.
The Israeli police had previously reported an investigation in progress after an “incident that occurred near the town of Carmel”, a neighboring colony of UMM al-Khair (Oum El-Kheir, according to the transcription in French) and says that an Israeli citizen had been arrested.
