Zelensky creates “invincibility” network with basic services for blackouts

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Tuesday the creation of a network of 4,000 “invincibility points” throughout the country to provide basic services to citizens in the event of blackouts due to Russian bombing.

“If there are massive attacks from Russia again and it is understood that the electricity supply cannot be restored in a few hours, the work of the ‘invincibility points’ will be activated and all the basic services will be there,” Zelensky explained in his usual afternoon speech. .

These points, free and open 24 hours a day, according to the head of state, will provide affected citizens with access to “electricity, mobile communications and the Internet, heating, water and first aid.”

According to Zelensky, the 4,000 points will operate in all regional and local administrations, as well as in educational centers, buildings of the State Emergency Service and other facilities.

The Ukrainian government has created a special website (nezlamnist.gov.ua) with a map of these points throughout the country. On the ‘site’, citizens will also be able to find out where the nearest gas stations, bank branches, pharmacies or stores are open.

“All of us must be prepared for any scenario, considering what the terrorists are fighting against our people and what they are trying to do,” Zelensky said.

The Head of State asked all local authorities to inform the population about the support points available in the event of a prolonged blackout, and called on companies to join the initiative, as many businessmen have already done.

The military offensive launched on February 24 by Russia in Ukraine has already caused the flight of more than 13 million people -more than six million internally displaced persons and more than 7.8 million to European countries-, according to the most recent data. of the UN, which catalogs this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the wider international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing Russia from the political point of view and economic sanctions.

The UN presented as confirmed since the start of the war 6,595 dead civilians and 10,189 wounded, stressing that these figures are far below the real ones.
