A great scare and millions of euros rose with smoke. An American army pilot was expelled on Wednesday, July 30 from his combat plane before crashing in the center of California.
The accident occurred around 6.30 pm local time near the Aeronavale de Lemoore base, according to a press release from the Navy cited by CNN. The pilot is healthy and the cause of the accident is the object of an investigation, said the army without giving more details.
The bulk black smoke emerged on Wednesday from the field where the device crashed, according to images of the local KFSN-TV television. Emergency services quickly reached the site to turn off the fire and help the pilot.

The plane that crashed was an F-35C, one of the three variants of the F-35 Lightning II designed to be used in US carriers, CNN details. Its cost is estimated by the American channel at $ 100 million, or around 87 million euros. Made by Lockheed Martin, the F-35 are among the most advanced war aircraft in the world, recognized for their stealth and combat skills.
The device was assigned to the Hunter VF-125 squad, known as “Rough Raiders” and responsible for the pilot’s training, said the Navy.
This is the second accident of an F-35 plane in the United States this year. An Air Force F-35a crashed in Alaska in January, during a training mission. The pilot had also expelled without incident.
