Gaza: Humanitarian aid images fall through France

The wide foods were organized by the French army in Gaza, this Friday, August 1. Before the “Hungry Risk”, Emmanuel Macron emphasizes that “they are not enough” and asks Israel to open “complete humanitarian access.”

President Emmanuel Macron announced the return of the drops of food to Gaza by the French army, in a communication on social networks, this Friday, August 1.

“Faced with the absolute emergency, we just took an operation to leave food in Gaza. Thanks to our Jordanian, Emirian and German partners for their support, as well as our soldiers for their commitment,” he wrote in X.

“A communication operation” denounced

Jean-Guy Vataux, Emergency Coordinator of Physicians Without Borders (MSF) in Gaza denounces this Friday, on the BFMTV set, a “eye dust operation” of the Israeli government.

“There are no access problems to the gaza strip today, there are trucks, food exists, roads exist. It is enough that the Israeli government opens the door to trucks that pass along the way to allow the situation to be resolved, obviously they do not intend to do that.”

He adds: “On the other hand, they organize a communication operation.” According to Jean-Guy Vataux, the drops of this Friday, which are the most massive, correspond to “only five trucks” of food, that is, “1% of what is necessary for Gaza”. MSF’s emergency coordinator denounces “a totally manufactured famine” from the implementation of the Israeli block.

A means of help criticized by NGOs

The Emirates, Jordan, France and other countries had already participated in gaza aid paratroopers in 2024, sometimes considered dangerous and imposing a complex logistics for a limited aid volume. Many humanitarian officials have emphasized that they could not replace the delivery of land assistance.

“The lengths are not enough. Israel must open total humanitarian access to respond to the risk of famine,” wrote the President of the Republic.

The UN agency chief for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, estimated last Saturday that the resumption of parachutes was an “ineffective” response to subjected humanitarian disaster.

“The air drops will not end the rain of ideas. They are expensive, ineffective and can even kill hungry civilians,” he said.

Child malnutrition burning

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated international organizations that have alerted an outbreak of child malnutrition.

“A famine caused by man can only be resolved by political will,” said Philippe Lazzarini.

Without taking Israel, he asked the UN to intervene “on a large scale and without obstacles” in Gaza. Israel faces a growing international pressure on the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory. At the end of May, it softened very partially a total imposed block in early March, which led to a serious shortage of food, drugs and other basic needs.

In addition to France, Spain announced this Friday that 12 tons of air foods had fallen in the Gaza Strip. The United Kingdom also proceeded on Tuesday to air help tears.
